You might feel uncomfortable at first about getting an appointment with your doctor and talking to him or her about your problems. You shouldn’t worry; lots of young girls feel embarrassed or shy. Here are some helpful tips:

Be confident and know you are not the only one in this situation. Ask the doctor if you may bring a friend or a relative to your consultation for some moral support.

Don’t be afraid to ask any questions that you have. Doing some of your own research first may help you feel more confident about talking with the doctor, and to better understand the answers that he or she gives you.

The doctor will be grateful for as much detailed information as possible as it will allow them to make a more accurate diagnosis, so mention all of your symptoms, even if they seem unrelated.
